Technology

On Wednesday 19th February Week 4 Term 1, the year 7 & 8 students from Te Ngahere went to Technology at Moerewa School. At Tech we had another teacher (Whaea Mahinaarangi) because Mr E (our actual teacher) was not well. So Whaea Mahinaarangi was teaching us how to make Cultural Necklaces that reflects on our culture, they were called Pewter Jewelry. We first had to draw 3 squares in our books that were 6cm then draw a picture that reflects on our cultures. Next we had to pick one picture for our design. After that we used a skill saw to shape our picture we drew. Then the following week after we are going to melt the silver, safely into the wood so that it would make the shape we carved out. Whaea Mahinaarangi said we will have to melt the silver in following week. Because we didn't have enough time. If Mr E is still not well the following week we will still have Whaea Mahinaarangi and we will carry on making our Pewter Jewelry. Whaea Mahinaarangi also said if Mr E is well she will tell him what we did and finished so we can have more time to finish our project. I really enjoyed Technology because it was fun and we used a skill saw and a seper. There was nothing I didn't enjoy there. I learnt that when you use a skill saw try not to get the big gloves, try to get gloves that fit right because it will make it easier when you have big gloves that you can't fit especially when your working on a small project. Maybe next time I could work faster so I can get my work done faster but we should not hurry art.
Ka Kite!
