4 Shot Movie!

Last Week we made some 4 shot movies. The four shots we had to include in our four shot movie were; establishing shot (the establishing shot tells the audience where and when the story is taking place), long shot (show the subject from a distance), medium shot (emphasize both the actor and their surroundings) & close up (draw the audience attention to the main characters). Something that my group did well was collaborated with each other and made sure that we all agreed on what we would make the movie about. Something my group could have done better is use the time that we have wisely. I think that this learning is going to help me make my proper movie because I now know 4 basic shots in a movie that you would use and I can use it in my movie too. Do you know one of the 4 shots?

Science Fair Experiments!!

For the past few weeks Te Ngahere have been working on our science experiments. Jade and my science experiment was about which toothpaste gets the stains out of your teeth best. Something I learned is that the dependant variables is what is being measured or tested during a science experiment. In our experiment I also learned that out of the toothpastes; Natural Red Seal baking Soda, Maclean & Colgate Triple Action, Natural Red Seal Baking Soda gets the stains out of your teeth best. Something that was hard for me is to make sure not to change more variables. Sometimes when I would get into the pit because I didn’t think I would be able to finish my project in  time, I would use my hoe of Kaha (being strong) & Tu Maia (resilience) to help me row my waka back on track to success. Next time I think I would use my time that I have more wisely. I really enjoyed our science experiment and completing everything we wanted to. What would your science project be about?

Here is Jade and my Science Fair Experiment Slides: Hope you enjoy it!!

Winning Dots

On Monday Te Ngahere started some new Maths. For Maths we were learning to make and analyze dot plot graphs. Activity one was about how far room 1 can throw a tennis ball. Room 1’s data was on a dot plot graph but there was still more data and that was when we had to make our own dot plot graphs for room 2’s data. I learnt that the word “range” means lowest to the highest point. When we first started this activity I thought that the word “range” meant where the ball went but we were wrong. For example, room 1’s longest throw was 19 metres and there lowest throw was 3 metres so you just take away 3 from 19 and it equals 16. Something I could work on and o better for next time is making my DLO more understandable so that people who don't know what a dot plot is will learn from my Blog Post. Have you ever made a Dot Plot Graph to display your data before?

This is where we had to make a dot plot graph for room 2's throws:

Marble Challenge 2.0

Last term in Te Ngahere, we did a Marble Challenge take 2. We did a marble challenge take 2 to see if our ramps needed modifying or to see if we could do better than our first try. Some people didn't  want to change their ramp but some of them did need to make their instructions clearer. My group did modify our ramp because we wanted to change the height of our ramp because we knew that it would make the marble not go as far. We also decided to change our instructions because they didn't quite make sense the first time. Unfortunately my group didn’t improve on our first attempt because it was went a little bit too far and we got two less points form our first attempt. I think that my group did well all  together and that we did improve on our instructions. The part that I enjoyed most about this challenge was making our ramp because my group was really thinking about how we could make a creative & successful ramp.
