Scams & Phishing

This week in Te Ngahere we have started doing some Cybersmart. For Cybersmart our W.A.L.T was to identify scams and phishing emails when on the internet. By the end of this activity we should be able to look out for them and also what to do when you ensure. For this activity we had to make a copy of the scams and phishing Google slide. Then we had to say if the email was legitimate or fake and then say why we think this. You can tell if the email is legitimate because they won't be asking you for anything or telling you to sign in to anything. You can tell if you are getting scammed because they use things like money, they could ask you something like; you didn’t pay enough money for your package and you need to pay more money, that is a scam. Phishing is where someone wants you to click on a website urgently and if you do then you could lose your money, photos or whatever they take. This weeks activity really helped me to identify scams and phishing emails. Something that I learnt from this week's activity is if the website is asking for information like; full name, date of birth, address & email don’t give them it because that is your personal information. Maybe you can learn how to identify scams and phishing emails by doing this activity too! Have you ever got phishing emails or got scammed before? Bye Bye!
