Pou Pou Art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing art. We have been doing Pou Pou art.. Pou or Pou Pou are carvings that are normally found in a marae. They represent IwI (tribes) or in other words they are a carving that marks boundaries or places of significance that are carved by maori. They are made out of wood but our class drew them on paper and colored them in with pastel. My theme was hot colours red, orange, yellow and the cold colors green and blue. I used more warm colors then cold colors. I learnt what Pou meant and actually were, because I had no idea what they were before we started doing art.
Here is a photo of my Pou Pou art. Hope you learnt something and like my Pou Pou art.
Ka Kite!
