On April the 22nd, students from Te Ngahere (including me) created a WALKING WITH AN ANZAC Slideshow. First we had to click onto this website called (WALKING WITH AN ANZAC). Then we had to click onto that link, then we had to read the 3 steps, then click onto this link that says (CLICK HERE TO FIND YOUR ITEM). After that we had to choose our item, After that it will say someone's name who went to War. Next we had to scroll down to read the person's story and gather information about them and make a digital learning object (DLO).

SLJ (packing up) Week 1 Day 4
Kia ora everyone my name is Angela. At Paihia School we have been doing some Distance Learning since Covid 19. On the 23rd of April we have been doing some Summer Learning Journey Activities. For Activity 1 we had to find out more about the weather in our chosen country. We had to go onto this link called (Accu Weather website). It told us what the weather is going to be like in our country of choice. On the website we had to Provide a five day forecast for the weather in the capital city of your chosen country and Check if your weather is shown in degrees, celcius (we use this in NZ) or degrees farenheit. For Activity 2 we had to Post a list of everything that we need to pack for our trip. We had to Think about clothing, toiletries and entertainment and Make sure we don't overpack!. We had to put a star (*) beside the 5 items that we think are the most important. For the Bonus Activity we had to Make a word poem called a ‘wordle’ using our packing list we are taking on our trip. To make a wordle we had to click onto the link to make the wordle and it was called (the word art website). The website will create a wordle for us. We then had to Save the wordle and then post it on our blog. Does your school do Summer learning Journey?

SLJ (buying a ticket) Week 1 Day 3
On the 19th of April students from Te Ngahere did some Summer Learning Journey Activities. For Activity 1 we had to watch both of the current Air New Zealand safety videos. (Air New Zealand 2020, journey to safety) and Air New Zealand 2019, Air All Blacks). Once we had finished watching both the videos we listed three things that you need to do to stay safe on an airplane and say why its Important. For Activity 2 we had to Imagine that we have been asked to create our very own airline! and what we would call it?. We had to Design a simple logo for our airline and post it on our blog. We had to include an explanation of our logo that was at least 5 sentences. You will see what my logo looks like below. For the bonus Activity we had to use the (XE currency converter website) to find out how much each ticket would cost in New Zealand dollars [NZD $]. On our blog, we had to tell you How much it would cost in New Zealand dollars to fly to each country, Which country is the most expensive country to visit and Which country is the least expensive country to visit.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2
On the 16th of April, students from Te Ngahere (including me) did some activities for Summer Learning Journey. For Activity 1 we had to fill in the 5 sentences with the information we got from google online about the capital city of our country we chose to 'visit'. My country I chose to 'visit' is Australia and Australia's capital city is Canberra. For Activity 2 we had to have at least four reasons why we think bullfighting in Mexico/Spain should be banned or keep going. My four reasons were about me wanting bullfighting to be banned and stopped completely. For the Bonus Activity we had to write down 3 things you did when you visited Wellington. If we haven't had the opportunity to visit Wellington we had to click onto this website about Wellington called (Discover Wellington). Then we had to think of 3 things we would like to do, Why we want to visit that place in Wellington and who you would go with. Then we had to click on the website called (google earth) and pin where we would like to go and take a screenshot.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1
On the 15th of April some students in Te Ngahere (including me) had to pick a country to describe and say why they picked that country and add some facts. The country I chose was Australia because I have never been to Australia and my cousins live there and they enjoy it!. Then I had to research on google 3 interesting facts about Australia and write down the ones I would prefer. The 3 facts I have chosen are It would take around 29 years to visit one new Aussie beach every day (there are 10,685 of them!), Australia has the world’s longest golf course measuring more than 850 miles long and Australia is home to 21 of the world’s 25 most venomous snakes. Then we had a bonus activity which you had to write a letter to someone about you going on a little holiday to the place you have chosen. Next time I’m going to challenge myself by doing most of the bonus activities because its extra work and fun. And did you know that there are over 60 different types of Kangaroos and Australia is the 6th largest country in the world?.

The Step by Step Guide to Calculating a Perimeter
In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to calculate a perimeter. A perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape.
I have created a DLO to show you what a perimeter is, how to calculate a perimeter with examples and how I worked the equations out. Before I started this Maths lesson I didn't know how to calculate a perimeter or even know what a perimeter was. I now know how to calculate a perimeter and what a perimeter is.
Do you know what a perimeter is? Do you know how to calculate a perimeter? Have you ever calculated a perimeter before?
I really enjoyed my time of learning with this lesson on calculating a perimeter.
Ka Kite! Bye!

Russell Swimming Sports
Russell Swimming Sports
Kia ora, On Thursday the 12th of March some students from Paihia School participated in the Russell Swimming Sports. I would like to say a big thank you to Daryl Honey and Shelly Honey for giving us a free boat ride there and back. I would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Williams for organizing this event and Whaea Roni for coming along. We had to walk to the wharf, so we left school at about 8:30am to get to the wharf by 8:45 am. When I got to school it was about 8:30 am, I went to my classroom to get my school T-Shirt on. When everyone who was going to Russell swimming sports got to school, Mrs Williams did a roll call to see if everyone was here. When we got to the wharf we were just in time because the ferry just got to the wharf. When we got to Russell my friend Jade and I were nervous and excited at the same time. Then we went to our spot and sat down, some of us went in the water and had a little play. The schools who participated were Karetu, Oromahoe, Russell, Waikare and Paihia School. At about 9:30 am it was the diving contest, two girls and two boys from each school. My friend Jade and I were the two girls who participated and Shay and Mikaire were the two boys who participated from our school. There were two rounds of the diving contest and the challenge was to try and make no splash and the judges would give us a score. Our scores would be higher depending on what our entrance was. When I dived into the water it was refreshing and I felt like i had done a big splash but when I got out of the water my friend jade told me there was hardly any splash. I think that Jade, Shay and Mikaire and I did a great job. After that the second race was freestyle for the 11 year old girls. Jade, Isabella and I competed in the freestyle for the 11 year old girls. We had to wait for the big bang, then we dive into the water and start our freestyle. I came second and I felt proud of myself. After the races it went 11 year old boys, 10 year old girls, 10 year old boys and it went in a repeated pattern like that down to 7 year old girls and boys. Not everyone did freestyle some of us did breathstroke or backstroke. After the races started the relays began. The relays were just for fun and these 4 students Anyah, Mihipeka, James and Rymon did the relays. After the relays we had a Manu comp, the best two students from each school went and they were Anyah and Harlem. Anyah was the only girl and she won. When the relays finished we had prize giving and this girl named Grace won in the 12 year olds freestyle. All the schools started to leave after prize giving because everything was finished. Our school was a loud to go to four square so my friend Jade and I went to four square and I brought a whole block of chocolate. We all wanted to go to the wharf and do some Manu’s and bombs since Mrs Williams said we could. So we did and I think we all had a lot of fun that day. We had about half an hour to jump off the wharf, then we had to dry ourselves quickly because we had to catch the ferry back to Paihia. Overall I had an amazing day and I think everyone else did to. I enjoyed every minute that day. Thank you to everyone who made that day possible.
