How To Expand Numbers DLO

Hello, For the past two weeks in Te Ngahere we have been learning some new Maths. For Maths we have been learning how to expand numbers. To show our learning we had to make a DLO how ever we wanted to make it. In our DLO we had to explain how to expand a number step by step by saying; what we are learning about (expanding numbers), how to expand numbers and other things that we wrote in our own success criteria to help us expand a number. I enjoyed doing this because I now know how to expand a number and I can see numbers differently. Maybe next time my group should ask if everyone understands what is happening like; why we are putting these numbers in this column. Do you know how to expand a number?
Here is my expanding numbers DLO: Hope you like it!

Measuring Big or Small

Hey, In Te Ngahere we have been learning about measurement. We were also learning about converting to millimetres, centimetres and metres. With our groups we were measuring objects as small as an A4 page to the size of our court. On an A4 page there were a list of things we had to measure. I enjoyed everything but I enjoyed measuring the court the most because it had more to measure. Next time I think I could practice converting because my group and I sort of got confused. What is the smallest or biggest object you have measured?

Learn What The Circumference & Diameter Of A Circle Is!

In Te Ngahere we have been doing a different type of math. This weeks math was about measurement. The group that I was in were finding the circumference and diameter of a circular object in Te Ngahere. I learnt that the circumference of a circle is the length around the outside. I also learnt that the diameter is, from one side of a circle to the opposite side going through the center of the circle. The thing I found hard was measuring the exact length of the circumference and diameter of the circular object. Next time my group and I will collaborate better and try to measure the exact length. Did you know what the circumference and diameter of a circle is before seeing my post? Here is a youtube video about parts of a circle! Here is a youtube video that explain parts of a circle: Hope you learn something!

Learn What Fraction Frenzy Is With Me!

This week In Te Ngahere we have been doing some maths called fraction frenzy. Fraction frenzy is when we find the equivalent number of a fraction. Equivalent means “the same as”. We had to cut out pieces of paper that had written fractions on them and glue it on paper so we can sort out the equivalent fractions. For example: the fractions 10/10 and 5/5 are both whole numbers because the top and bottom numbers are the same number. We were allowed to work in a group of 2 or 3. My friends Breeze, Jade and I worked together in a group. I really enjoyed this maths because it was challenging for me. The thing I found hard was finding the equivalent fraction for the higher numbers, that is why we found the equivalent fractions for the lower numbers first. We were doing this so we can recognise an equivalent fraction. I hope we do this again in the future because I really enjoyed it and hopefully I will be better at it. Did you know how to find an equivalent fraction before you saw my post?
Here is my DLO: Hope you learn something!

Incredible Maths DLO about Angles!

This week in Te Ngahere we have been doing something for maths called types of angles. Since we have been doing this math I have learnt what a right, acute, obtuse, straight, reflex and a full rotation angle is. I really like this Maths because it is fun and I am learning to do new things. I learnt that an obtuse angle is greater than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees. A reflex angle is greater than 180 degrees but less than 360 degrees. So an angle of 190 degrees would be a reflex. Before our class learnt about angles, I didn't know what an obtuse angle was but now I do. Do you know what an angle is? What is your favourite angle?
Blog you later! Ka Kite!

Do you have Maths Eyes?

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some different kind of Maths called "Do you have Maths Eyes?". "Maths Eyes" is when we answer questions about the photo we see on the slide and what else we can see other then just a photo. For example: For this "Maths Eyes" we had to answer questions and say what we saw, other than just decorated gingerbread man.
This is my "Maths Eyes": Hope you enjoy and learn something new!

Beginners Guide On How To Find The Area Of A Shape

During lockdown (Level 3) my household has been very busy, especially with us doing homework everyday. Every day at 9:30 am our class has a hangout with our teachers where they talk about what we will be doing for the day. We also have another hangout at 2:00 pm where we talk about what we did and what our favourite thing we did for the day was. We also have been doing some Maths/Pangarau. The type of math that we are doing is called Perimeter and Area. When we learnt how to do Perimeter and Area, we had to make a Digital Learning Object. In the Digital Learning Object, we teach other people how to do it. I think I done good at screencastify. What do you think about my screencastify & DLO (Digital Learning Object). Have you ever screencastify before?

The Step by Step Guide to Calculating a Perimeter

In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to calculate a perimeter. A perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape.
I have created a DLO to show you what a perimeter is, how to calculate a perimeter with examples and how I worked the equations out. Before I started this Maths lesson I didn't know how to calculate a perimeter or even know what a perimeter was. I now know how to calculate a perimeter and what a perimeter is.
Do you know what a perimeter is? Do you know how to calculate a perimeter? Have you ever calculated a perimeter before?
I really enjoyed my time of learning with this lesson on calculating a perimeter.

Tessellation

Last week at Paihia School Te Ngahere were doing art. The type of art we were doing was Tessellation. Tessellation is a type of Art that is made from one shape that is closely fitted together in a repeated pattern without gaps or overlapping. We all had to create a new google drawing and make any shape. On our google drawing we made a parallelogram shape and got the scribble line and made scribbles around the parallelogram. We had to make sure that the lines were not overlapping. I had to make a couple of tessellations because I didn't know they were overlapping and I didnt know that they weren't allowed to be overlapping, but finally I managed to make a shape that wasn't overlapping and that didn't have any gaps. So what I learnt from tessellations was its made from one shape, it is closely fitted together in a repeated pattern without gaps or overlapping. Hope you learnt something new!
